Creation Sharing time/combined Singing time
January 2012 Week 4- Jesus Christ created the earth as a place where I can learn to choose the right
"Heavenly Father had a plan for us. He sent us out on our own to make decisions, try to choose the right, and return to Him. In order for this plan to work, he needed somewhere to send us. He directed Jesus to create somewhere for us" taken from Cathrine at http://www.eprimary.dk/2003/2003_07_a/1eng%20st%20I%20know%20Gods%20plan.htm Sorry, I had this saved on my computer for many years and thought I wrote the opening. Many apologies:)
Who can remember what He created? (point to the large earth on the board) blown up from google image http://www.clker.com/cliparts/5/9/c/2/1194984395619889880earth_globe_dan_gerhrads_01.svg.med.png
We are going to review a little about the 7 days or periods of creation and your class will help us learn. Each class is going to get a few lines about a certain creation day. Read it with your class and decide which picture that is hanging around the room that it matches the paper and discuss. You may look up the scriptures that are on the picture for further discussion. Then each class will show their picture and a teacher will assist in reading their paper to the primary.
Creation parts for each class(one many have to have 2 days, or Presidency take a day)-
On the first day Jesus divided the light from the darkness, calling them day and night. Picture of half a sheet on paper be yellow and the other diagonal side black. With day and night written on it. Along with a number one with Genesis 1:3-5 scripture on it. I used a Mary Ross and Jennette Guymon-King creation sharing time(lesson 6 in Primary Partners Sharing time Treasures, “I Am a Child Of God”, 2007 for the numbers and clipart)
On the second day Jesus divided the waters so some was on earth and some was in the heavens. (along with picture of rain. Could use a google image such as http://caro.officialpsds.com/images/thumbs/SEATS-rain-drops-psd47102.png (along with a number 2 with scripture Genesis 1: 6-8 on it. I used a Mary Ross and Jennette Guymon-King creation sharing time for the numbers)
On the third day Jesus made dry land and divided the water and the dry land, forming seas, rivers, and lakes. He made the grass and the trees and the plants grow.(matches picture 1:22 from Primary 1 pictures, along with the small flower clipart. Along with a number 3 with the scripture Gensis 1:9-13 on it. I used the Mary Ross and Jennette Guymon-King creation sharing time for the numbers)
On the fourth day Jesus made the sun to light the day, and the moon and stars to light the night. Could use a google image of moon and stars(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4uSWJmN748l49_a1_RhWISQRVMbJnR3VIpr4Cj0b3IbObrtTjxZLint7f58KOle1rt1xosp2xkcvBj8ECofybrWR8-VQMUy19rI-9s9WmDaaGyG5me8U3rwVaSg-3o9-cJ2yhYM45w9E/s1600/StarsMoon.jpg Along with a number 4 with the scripture Genesis 1:14-19 on it. I used the Mary Ross and Jennette Guymon-King creation sharing time for the numbers)
On the fifth day Jesus created fish and put them in the waters. He also created birds. (Matches picture Primary 1 packet-1:25 fish with Primary 1 bird clipart, with a number 5 with Genesis 1:20-23 on it. I used the Mary Ross and Jennette Guymon-King creation sharing time for the numbers)
On the sixth day Jesus created animals, insects and other creeping things. Then Heavenly Father and Jesus created the greatest creation of all mankind.(Genesis 1:26-30) The first man and woman were Adam and Eve, who became our earthly parents. Our spirits would be given bodies of flesh and bones so we could live on earth. We were created in God’s image. (matches picture of Adam and Eve- Gospel art pic 101, number 6 with Genesis 1:24-30(I used the Mary Ross and Jennette Guymon-King creation sharing time for the numbers)
On the seventh day Jesus rested for a time. Day seven is our Sabbath day, a day of rest. (matches a calendar with Sunday highlighted and a number 7, and with scripture Genesis 2:1-3 on it)
(Taken from the 2012 Sharing time Outline, p. 3) Look at these crayons, what do you notice? (They are all the same color) Coloring a picture is more fun with different colors right? Our world would be kinda boring if everything was the same. Isn’t it great that Heavenly Father and Jesus created so many wonderful things on this earth. They are all different with lots of colors and very beautiful. "When someone gives you a wonderful gift, you want to take care of it and treat it with respect. We need to treat all of these gifts that Heavenly Father and Jesus created for us with respect and remember to be thankful." Also taken from Catherine at http://www.eprimary.dk/2003/2003_07_a/1eng%20st%20I%20know%20Gods%20plan.htm. Again, sorry for the late credit.
We are now going to discover ways that we can be thankful for the creations that we just talked about. I have this world(toy from Pier 1 imports) and it has creations inside.(Creation clipart taken from Primary 1 picture packet and Mary Ross and Jennette Guymon King’s Primary Partners Sharing time treasures “I am a Child of God”, 2007) (Could use a bag with a world on it in place of the garage sale world find!)We are going to pick a reverent child to come and choose a creation to hide on the back of someone’s chair.(all the cliparts have magnets on them(business card magnets cut into squares) and will magnetically stick to the back of a child’s chair.) We will send one member outside for a minute while it gets hidden. Then our music leader is going to help us sing to help the person find the creation that we are thankful for and how we can respect that creation. You will need to sit straight in your chair and block the creation so that the finder has a really hard time figuring out which special creation(that’s you) it is hiding behind. If we sing loud, it will tell you that you are very close to the creation. If we sing soft, you may want to check another area because we are far away. So please pay attention and sing correctly to help the person. (songs could be "As a Child of God", "My Heavenly Father Loves Me", "The World is So Big") Then we will discover a way we are thankful for that creation and put it around the big world. Let’s see how wondrous our world is and find as many creations as possible.
items in globe or bag to hide-
Tree- Why are we thankful for trees? How can we respect trees?(We can not pick other's fruit, not throw things at nests, not overuse paper, recycle)
Day- Why are we thankful for day? (It would be dark all the time.) How can we choose the right during the day? (use time wisely when it is light outside,)
Night- Why are we thankful for night?(would be hard to sleep if it was light all the time. Alaska experience) How can we choose the right in the night?(get ready for bed on time, read our scriptures, say prayers, etc.)
Flowers- Why are we thankful for flowers? (beautiful, attract bees to get honey, make our nose happy, get perfume from them) How can we respect flowers? (by not picking someone else's flowers, watering them,)
Water- Why are we thankful for water?(to drink, to swim, people travel across the water, Jaradite barges, Nephi's boat examples, etc) How can we take care of the water? (not throwing garbage in it, not using more than we need,)
Insects- Why are we thankful for insects? (they eat other bugs and keep things balanced,) How can we choose the right with insects?(not put a magniflying glass up to ants, leave them be)
Sabbath Day Calendar- One way can we choose the right on the Sabbath day?
Sun- Why are we thankful for the sun?(to keep us warm, light up the day,)
Rest-Why is it important to rest on Sunday and not do work?
Stars- Why are you thankful for stars? (they light the night, can count them, see constellations, know what time it is)
Mountains- How can we respect the mountains? (We can not throw garbage on a hike, not take rocks or plants with us on a hike. We can choose the right by not hiking alone ever
Rain- Why are we thankful for rain? (We need water for our lakes so that we can use it everyday. Drought lately experience. How can we choose the right in the rain?(If it is raining hard, we should get indoors, follow lightning safety, wear raingear)
Animals- Why are we thankful for animals(to have pets, eat them, wear clothes) How can we respect animals?(Don't be mean to them, feed them, don't feed them in a zoo, etc.)
I hope you will be thankful for all the things in this world that Heavenly Father and Jesus have given us and take care of it. Also continue to choose the right while living in this wondrous world. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
LOVE THIS SHARING TIME!!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!
ReplyDeleteDarcee, you are awesome! I absolutely love it! We are so- so incredibly lucky to have you in our presidency! We would be lost without you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this sharing time! I've been worried for over a month about what I was going to do!
ReplyDeleteGreat Sharing Time!
ReplyDelete***Wondering if you would post the numbers ... I have all the Ross/Guymon-King books that you've talked about EXCEPT for that one! Or if you can scan it and send it to my email chamberlain9902@msn.com I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks again!
Unfortunately the images I used are copyrighted from Primary Partners Mary Ross and Jennette Guymon-King and although I am allowed to show them on the internet, rights prohibit me from distributing the images to others. However I can give you these images that aren't as good, but you could copy the image and copy and paste the scriptures on them
ReplyDeleteThese are the best free images I can come up with-
http://www.wpclipart.com/religion_mythology/bible/creation/creation_days/
Day 1 scripture- Genesis 1:3-5
Day 2- Genesis 1:6-8
Day 3- Genesis 1:9-13
Day 4- Genesis 1:14-19
Day 5- Genesis 1:20-23
Day 6- Genesis 1:24-30
Day 7- Genseis 2:1-3 This one is not correct, so would try and draw a number 7 instead.
Sorry I am not more help! But don't want to get myself in trouble. I also created a bingo game using Mary Ross and Jennette King's images but didn't even post it because I knew that it would just frustrate people that they couldn't have a copy.
Can you tell me exactly what book they are in, so I can find it?!?
DeleteThere are creation numbers in the 1995 Primary Partners vol. 1 book (nursery and Age 3) By the same Ross and King in lesson#15 Sunday Is a Day of Rest. Not as big but can be printed larger!!
DeleteMary Ross and Jennette Guymon-King creation sharing time(lesson 6 in Primary Partners Sharing time Treasures, “I Am a Child Of God”, 2007. Sorry again about not being able to email people the images. I know it would be easier. You could print out a number coloring sheet(bubble letter "2") and draw your own pictures or google image clipart on them.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the lesson ideas! I needed a little inspiration and this lesson has sent me in the right direction for Sunday. I think I'm going to print out the numbers and play a matching game with the kids and discuss the ways we can care for God's creation when they make a match. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteyou are awesome, this is exactly what i needed. Thanks so much for the time you put into it!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the cute little bag?
ReplyDeleteIt came from Pier 1 imports, but I got it at a garage sale. It was the inspiration for the lesson, haha!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your creativity with us. I have used several of your lessons and the kids absolutely love them.
ReplyDeleteTo those who are interested in the numbers - they can be found in the Sunday Savers - Sharing Fun (Great for Family Night too) book. I purchased mine at Desert Books just a couple of weeks ago. The ISBN is 978-1-62108-266-8.
