I Feel my Savior's Love Sharing time

I Feel my Savior's love Sharing time

April 2012 Week 4 theme- I feel my Savior's love when I try to be like Jesus Christ

From Sharing time: Love at Home: Karen Ashton, June 1996 Friend:

Use storyboard-"Love is a powerful feeling of affection, concern, and tenderness for another.(heart picture) Your home in heaven was filled with love.(picture of preexistence  http://lds.org/friend/print/2008/01/my-life-is-a-gift-my-life-has-a-plan?lang=eng&clang=eng ) Your Heavenly Father prepared a plan of happiness for you because He loves you.(plan of salvation picture) That plan makes it possible for you to become like Him and return to live with Him forever. Your Savior and Elder Brother, Jesus Christ, suffered and gave His life to free you from sin and death. (Jesus on the cross picture)Heavenly Father and Jesus love you. Heavenly Father loves you so much that he gave His only Begotten son so that we could have a way to return back to our Heavenly home."(Heavenly Father and Jesus picture)https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuHqdXFSXDDQr_jtg1Gbclq-ODQV4OghCjZvPO-lwdPpJa2IovzAcmtxeBFFqLPDiZDIr-Jn60fMrge84SNkRdpclyZPA5hw-98_99n1qo6SChe2a_mftltml-Kx-Ofy75dAFdhTJw8A/s1600/Heavenly+Father.gif
"Jesus gave us a commandment to love one another as He loves us. When you love others and show that love by your actions, you are following Him. When you love others, you show that you are a child of Heavenly Father and a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ (see John 13:34–35). You become more like Them."
Storyboard made from a cutting board with two holes drilled at the top and clasp rings inserted through the holes. I have laminated sheets of construction paper through the holes and I tape the pictures used for the story on the construction paper. Thank you Carolie Muniz for making this board for me, I use it ALL the time!!!!
"Your home here on earth is the first and most important place to show love. (earth picture Primary 1-1)You can do it in very simple but powerful ways—a smile, a thank you, a hug, a kind word or deed. You can say, “I love you.” (heart with “I love you”)Everyone enjoys hearing those words again and again. As you show love for your family and others here on the earth, that love will grow, and you will help to make your home on earth a heavenly place."

We are going to play a game that will help discover ways that we can show our love for others like Heavenly Father and Jesus have shown for us. I have a game board with some hearts that have Jesus in the center because Jesus should always be in the center of our hearts. (Jesus in the medium hearts are from pass- a-long cards) We will roll the die and move across this game board. If we land on a heart with Jesus on it or pass it, we will read a situation and decide how we can show our love like Jesus would. If we land on a smaller heart or pass it, we will choose a large heart on the board and discuss ways to love that person. If we roll a “love scripture challenge”, we will try and read and memorize a scripture that has love in it by removing the words of the passage.
game board medium hearts used on board from Mary Ross and Jennette Guymon King- "My Savior Loves Me Gospel Activities, 2006, p. 75 but you could just cut out hearts of construction paper and cover with Christ picture from pass-a long card(sorry Ms. Ross and King- I covered the cartoon Jesus picture!), the game pieces are construction paper and the end /finish picture of Christ with children is from pg 17 of

Situations on back of  medium Jesus hearts on board 1,2,3 from Primary 2-Choose the Right A, (1995), 168–75 Lesson 32

1. You and your father are sitting on the corner waiting for the bus to come. You see an older man hurrying to catch the bus. He has a cane to help him walk, but he can’t move very fast. The bus pulls up and the door opens. As you climb up the steps, you can tell he probably won’t reach the bus in time.
What could you do to show love for this man?

2. On Sunday morning you are walking to church. You see a young mother with her baby in one arm and some books in the other.
What could you do to follow the example of the Savior and show love for this woman

6. You have planned a special party for your birthday next week, and you want to invite all the children in your neighborhood except one. She is new in the neighborhood. She never smiles and isn’t much fun to play with.
What could you do to be kind and show love to this girl?

Love Scripture Challenge:for when the die lands on the space "Love Scripture Challenge" I used six foam tiles put together to form a huge die and taped paper on the die with numbers to advance, "love scripture challenge", and "move to the next heart."

Scriptures are on wordstrips with business card magnets on the back of each word so they can be removed one by one. You could also write the scriptures on a rolling chalkboard and have the kids erase a word.

JR/SR primary- Matthew 22:39- “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

JR/SR Primary- 3 Nephi 12:8- “And blessed are all the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

that ye, being rooted and grounded in love.”

  4. I saw your link on sugardoodle. I was just put into Primary and am trying to figure this all out. Haven't been there since I was 12. :) Curious, I noticed this was posted in Feb. and had a Valentine theme. You did mean to use it for April 2012, week 4 right? I'm hoping that I am catching on to this!! Thank you!

  5. I did post it for Valentines day and then discovered that it matched the theme almost perfectly for April week 4. So I made some minor changes and republished it. Sorry if you already have used it in February:) I am running out of creative ideas!! This lesson(if I remember) was very successful with the kids!

  6. Thank you SO much! I was having a very hard time trying to think of how to keep our big kids from being bored and our little kids interested in what we're doing. A little tweaking to suit our Primary, and we should be good to go!
